I started playing guitar in the fifth grade. In my mind, I could sing well enough but I could not dance, so I needed something to do with my hands. No one in my family played music, but at a young age my Mom introduced me to her favorite band, The Beatles. I remember wearing my Mom's Abbey Road shirt to school and how many times the kids would point at Paul McCartney asking "Is that Drake Bell?"
